PKR software upgraded

In typical PKR style, the 3d poker room has chosen April fool’s day to show the rest of the poker world that they’re not messing around when it comes to offering players a unique poker experience.

Today is the day when PKR’s award winning software gets another upgrade, and it’s fair to say that it looks pretty damn impressive. New games and a variety of features have been added to software which has already re-defined the online poker market.

So what are these new additions?

New games:

Omaha Hi-Lo – The big news is that PKR has expanded its poker offering. From today, players can start playing Pot Limit and Limit Omaha. This has been rolled out across the board, so there will now be Omaha cash games, SnG’s and MTTs.

Mini Roulette – PKR have added another embedded game for you to get involved in when sat at the poker table too. Roulette now joins Blackjack and Casino Hold’em meaning that you can keep yourself entertained even when you’re not involved in a hand.

New features:

PKR Timebank – Nobody likes feeling under pressure. Especially when you’re being asked to make a decision which could make or break your bankroll. Now, with the new Timebank feature, PKR players can request additional time to have a think about their next move. When playing in cash games, more time will be added to your bank with every hand that you get involved in (up to the table maximum). If you prefer to play in tournaments, your time bank will remain constant.

Skip breaks – The ability to skip a break has now been added into the final table of all tournaments. If all players decide that they’d rather get on with the action, then the break is skipped and play resumes as normal.

New Shop items:

A load of really cool stuff has arrived in the shop now too. You can now spend your PKR points on new poker books, high-end electrical stuff and a wide range of other accessories. You can also purchase subscriptions to PKR’s partner training site BlueFire Poker where Phil Galfond will work to improve your game.

All in all, this ranks as one of the best and most important PKR upgrades for a while. We’ve had to wait a little while for it … but it’s certainly been worth it!!

Great new locations to play in at PKR

PKR has long been known as the poker room with lush 3D graphics that set it apart from more conventional online poker rooms.

Well the distance between PKR and its competitors has increased further with the announcement that there are now three more exotic locations to play your poker in.

PKR have now added an Ancient Egyptian themed Casino, a plush Chinese restaurant and a classy underground wine bar … and they all look great as you can see in the screenshots below!

PKR have also improved on their graphics in other ways too. Those of you who like to play in tournaments can expect your online avatar to share your celebrations when you win. A new addition to the software will see your character stand up from the table, raise his hands in the air and milk the applause of the spectators when you take a tournament down.

All in all, some brilliant new additions!!

Tell a friend, head to Vegas

Over the next 33 weeks, PKR will be running a series of promotions that will give away a number of WSOP 2009 packages.

This week’s promotion is aimed at those people who are already playing the poker at PKR. The challenge is to refer as many of your friends to PKR as possible. The 50 members who refer the most friends to PKR will compete in a freeroll tournament with the winner walking away with a $3,000 WSOP package including a seat in the $1,500 No Limit Freezeout Event to be held in 2009.

If you’re going to be referring friends, be sure to give them one of our bonus codes so that they can maximise their bankroll and get the most out of PKR!

Olympic fever on the PKR forum

It seems that everyone wants to get in a piece of the Olympic spirit at the moment, and PKR are no different.

However, their approach is a bit different to other poker or bingo rooms you might have seen on the net, as they’re offering their own special pentathlon which will be played out live on the PKR forum.

5 events are being planned, one of which will take place every day this week:

Event #1: Joke-athon: (Monday 18th August)
A nice and easy event to get things underway. Simply post your favourite joke. It doesn’t need to be poker related – it just needs to be funny!

&nbsp

Event #2: Poker Wisdom: (Tuesday 19th August)
Your chance to show how far you’ve come. PKR are encouraging their members to post a piece of invaluable poker knowledge. Don’t worry, this doesn’t have to be a huge essay – in fact it has to be under 50 words – and you may be able to help someone else out in the process!

&nbsp

Event #3: Best Bluff-athon: (Wednesday 20th August)
Ok, so poker’s not all about bluffing, but it’s a great feeling when you’re able to make an opponent lay down a winning when you’ve got nothing but scraps. The Bluff-athon will allow you to relieve that feeling as you tell the rest of the forum exactly how the whole thing went down.

There are a couple of rules to this: firstly, the bluff must have been succesful and secondly it must have happened on PKR, as you will need to post the details from your Hand History folder.

&nbsp

Event #4: Poker Poem: (Thursday 21st August)
I’m really not sure how this one is going to go down! However, if you fancy writing a few lines of verse (anything from a Haiku to a Limerick to a sonnet!) about the great game then you could be in with a chance of winning a prize.

&nbsp

Event #5: Look-alike-athon: (Friday 22nd August)
This final event will need a bit more work and dedication…

As you know, PKR are famous for their 3d poker rooms and easily editable avatars. Well PKR want you to play around with your avatar until he/she looks like someone famous. It doesn’t matter who, they just need to be well known.

Once you’re happy with your work, you’ll simply need to save your changes and post the final picture in the forum along with the person you were trying to imitate.

&nbsp

So how do you take part?
You’ll be pleased to know it’s very easy to get involved. Every day a post will be created in the PKR Forum containing details of the day’s events. Simply post your best entry into that thread and the board’s Administrators will pick a winner!

&nbsp

That’s great, so what do I win?
In true Olympic style, each competition will have three winners:

Gold medal – $55 TV Showdown Ticket and a 300 Piece PKR Chipset
Silver medal – $55 TV Showdown Ticket
Bronze medal – $30 PKR Open Ticket

&nbsp

Best of luck to all. Obviously new members will need to register with PKR in order to post in their forum. So if you’re going to sign up, be sure to have a look at our PKR Bonus page to make sure that you get some free cash while you’re doing so!

Those people still hoping to play in this year’s WSOP Main Event will have a final chance to win their seat in Vegas thanks to PKR this Sunday evening.

There are only two satellites left for Sunday’s Grand Final – and they will be played this Thursday and Saturday. Those players who want to buy into the final directly will be asked to pay $625 +$40 to be in with a chance of winning one of the 12 prize packages on offer. Each package will include travel to the WSOP in Vegas, accommodation during your stay and most importantly a $10,000 seat in the biggest poker tournament in history.

Play Deal or No Deal on PKR

For those of you looking for examples of Deal or No Deal game, look no further than PKR.

The easily-recognised TV studio has been re-created using PKR’s trademark 3D graphics right down to popular host Noel Edmonds who will guide players through the game.

Those competing in the game will be asked to pick a box of their choosing and then compete against the banker in a series of cash deals which will ultimately decide whether they walk away with a large proft … or wish that they had dealt sooner.

Players who are already members of PKR simply need to use their current login and then look out for the Deal or No Deal tab in the main menu. Existing avatars will be used when playing the game meaning that there truly is no reason to wonder how to enter Deal or No Deal on the television.

New players who have not yet registered with the site will need to submit their details at http://www.pkr.com

PKR hits the big screen

PKR have just launched their own TV channel where real-life members will battle it out for large cash prizes while being watched by an online and offline audience.

For those of you based in the UK, you can find all the action on Sky Channel 842. For those outside of the UK (or those without a satellite subscription), all the action is also being uploaded to YouTube. So you’ve got no excuse for missing out.

PKR TV Tournaments are already up and running. Those who make it down to the final table can expect to battle for glory on the big screen with all the action being called by a PKR commentary team of Colin Morris, James Bach and Dan Grant.

If you’re interested at all, head over to www.pkr.com and register your details.
